INFRARED SAUNA
What is Infrared Light?
Infrared light is everywhere from a touch of a person to the energy coming from the sun. It is the wave of an invisible light that penetrates through the skin into the deeper layers to warm the body. It means we all experience infrared light therapy on a regular basis. Utilizing this light in a more concentrated and therefore more powerful way eliminating the harmful radioactive rays from the sun make infrared therapy a safe and effective tool to treat wide-range of conditions.
How does infrared light benefit the body?
Red light is an invisible spectrum of light and it ranges from near infrared, mid infrared to far infrared based on how deep the rays penetrate into the body. Generally, infrared light stimulates the cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune and circulatory systems promoting a wide range of health benefits. However, each wave length has its own unique benefits.
Since far infrared penetrates into the deepest layers of the body, it is able to raise a core body temperature increasing the metabolism. Far infrared rays also cause the water molecules in the fat tissue to vibrate and release toxins resulting in the greatest level of detoxification. It is considered the most therapeutic for the entire body.
Mid infrared rays penetrate into the body's soft tissue increasing circulation and releasing oxygen to reach injured areas for faster muscle recovery and trauma rehabilitation.
Near infrared is the shortest wave that is absorbed just below the surface of the skin. It activates collagen production to fight signs of aging as well as healing wounds, it also promotes skin purification through sweat.
Our saunas are “full spectrum” infrared saunas delivering near, mid and far infrared rays. You can also change the settings to a particular wavelength that better suits your health goals.

Main Benefits:
Is infrared safe?
As mentioned previously, we all experience infrared light naturally from a touch or a sunlight. It is extremely safe! For example, infrared saunas are used in the hospitals to keep newborns warm. However, to reproduce the infrared light coming from natural sources into a therapy tool requires electricity. Most electrical devices emit harmful EMF and ELF rays that have been associated with chronic fatigue, headaches, depression and irritability to name a few.
At Mulberry Leaf, our main goal is always to deliver the most effective therapeutic modality with zero side-effects. That is why we chose these particular saunas for our center as they are the only infrared saunas on the market that cancel out both EMF and ELF rays.
Another safety concern with regards to the saunas is the heat itself. There are many people that cannot tolerate high heat environment and there are many conditions in which heat is contraindicated. The main difference between a conventional sauna and an infrared sauna is that in the former the air is heated to 200F. It is simply a hot stove where it’s hot outside and the heat is penetrated superficially making you feel warm. On the contrary, infrared rays penetrate deep into the body as the key of the health benefits lay in warming the body directly bypassing heating up the air around you. In lower temperature you’re able to tolerate staying in the sauna for a prolonged period of time maximizing the therapeutic effect.
It is however advisable to avoid saunas in cases of:
-
Pregnancy
-
Cancer
-
High fever
-
Communicable disease
-
Acute bleeding
-
Intoxication
It is also recommended to consult a doctor if you suffer from:
-
Cardiovascular Conditions: hypertension, hypotension, congestive heart failure, impaired coronary circulation or those who are taking medications, which might affect blood pressure.
-
Diseases Associated with a reduced ability to sweat: Multiple Sclerosis, Central Nervous System Tumors and Diabetes with Neuropathy
-
Also individuals taking certain medications: Diuretics, Barbiturates and Beta-blockers may impair the body's natural heat loss mechanisms
